Dear Colleagues,
We are writing to share a brief update regarding the position control measures announced earlier this year. To help divisions focus on preparing their multi-year budget sustainability plans, UC Merced will pause the position control initiative, effective immediately.
During this hiatus, divisions may proceed with planning without the additional step of submitting new requests through the Position Control Committee. Existing guidance for stipends, reclassifications, equity adjustments, and retentions remains unchanged. The STAR program remains suspended for the remainder of FY25-26.
We will continue to monitor the campus’s fiscal outlook and communicate any updates in advance of the initiative’s reinstatement.
