A message to Auxiliary Enterprises and Fiscal Innovation staff from Chad Pettay, executive director of campus life:
AFI colleagues,
After a competitive national search, I am thrilled to announce that Erin Eli has agreed to join our team as the director of Dining and Retail Services. Erin’s first official day is Jan. 16.
Below is a message from Erin that highlights some of his experiences:
I’m thrilled to be joining UC Merced. My culinary journey began early in life, working in my family's diverse restaurants, from fast-food concepts to managing a fish market and restaurant. This immersion set the foundation for a career seamlessly blending culinary expertise with extensive management roles.
In my recent role as President and Principal Consultant at Retail Edge Advisors, specializing in driving food and beverage industry growth, I guided the launch of TechOutfitters and optimized operations for restaurant chains, showcasing strategic planning, innovation, and collaboration. With a successful track record at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, overseeing merchandise operations and as Vice President of Merchandise, I bring experience in managing diverse teams and achieving operational excellence.
Eager to contribute my culinary roots, management expertise, and innovative spirit to UC Merced's dynamic team, fostering an environment of creativity, collaboration, and strategic thinking.
Best regards,
Erin
Please also join me in thanking our partner and colleague Julie Sagusay-Garcia for her exceptional service as interim director for the past several months. Julie has kept our dining and retail operations moving and will continue to serve as the employment and training manager in AFI administration while simultaneously helping with the dining leadership transition for the remainder of January.
Finally, thanks to all of you who spent time to attend interviews and provide insights on what kind of leader Dining and Retail Services truly needs. I appreciate all of the work you did to help bring Erin to us.
