Help Needed to Clear Warehouse Clutter

December 2, 2021

To: Faculty and staff

UC Merced’s warehouse for long-term storage is over capacity. Immediate action from the campus community is needed to clear up this issue.

Effective immediately, the warehouse will be closed to all incoming storage of goods and equipment. The closure will remain in place until the capacity issues are resolved. After Dec. 6, department representatives will require an appointment to access the warehouse. To make an appointment, contact Logistics Supervisor Randolph Encinas (rencinas2@ucmerced.edu).

Logistics Services staff has been contacting campus users who have UC property stored at the warehouse. Users are being asked to identify their material at the warehouse and to decide whether they will:

  • Keep the property at a storage facility and pay a monthly rental fee.
  • Move the property to a different UC Merced location at the department’s expense.
  • Designate the property as surplus, after which it will be sold, recycled or otherwise disposed.

Any undesignated UC property in the warehouse after Dec. 22 will be dispositioned as surplus.

If you need temporary or long-term storage during the warehouse closure, please contact Randolph Encinas or Building Services Manager Mark Lutz (mlutz@ucmerced.edu). You also can file a ServiceNow general purchasing ticket for an outside storage facility.

Sincerely,
