Tax Inquiry

Description: 

Inquiries on general tax questions, tax reporting forms (1099, 1042, 592), sales and use taxes (partial R&D questions, XYZ Letters, tax accruals), gift cards, W-9 forms, FTB 590 forms, and foreign and honoraria payments.

Who can request for this Service?

You must be an active UC Merced faculty, staff, or student.

What can I expect after submitting this request?

For general inquiries, Tax Services will send an email back to the requestor in response to the inquiry.

For a Partial Tax Exemption Certificate request, Tax Services will send a completed form back to the department to be signed by the Principal Investigator (PI) that is closely involved with the associated research equipment.

For an XYZ Letter, Tax Services will send a completed and signed form back to the requestor and to any agency/supplier noted on the CDTFA form/supplier letter.

For Form W-9 and 590 requests, Tax Services will send a completed and signed form to the requestor.

The request will be reviewed within 3-5 business days. Some responses may require additional time and research.

What are the operating hours for the service provided?

Support for this service is provided during standard operating hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday.

How do I Stop or Change this Service?

If you no longer want to proceed with the ticket requested, request the ticket be closed in the comment section. Include a brief explanation for future references.
